people,
i just returned from an infopass meeting... the guy i talked to said that they recently have a directive from the DHS/USCIS that they want to separate the legal stuff from the illegal stuff and hence they are planning to adjudicate a record number of EB apps in the next quarter or two... does anyone else concur? is this true or were my ears just ringing in that meeting?

And please the Fax link for guests. They should not be able to edit the mesasge. But must enter name and address. I can have at least 100 faxes sent.

I think it will be based on the receipt date because if we look at the Service Center Processing Dates, they mention "Now Processing Cases with Receipt Notice Date of".

I plan on staying here for 5 more years and then I am going back - GC or no GC ;)
After having lived in the US for 8 yrs, I still find myself craving for all things Indian - food, grocery, music, friends, movies, TV channels etc.
For me GC is just a convenience which will allow me to change jobs and hopefully get to the level that I should have if I had not been stuck because of the H1B.
My kids are US citizens and they are free to come back & study/work/live here when they are old enough to make that decision.
To go back after having managed to get here was a tough decision to make, but the whole retrogression thing has made it easier for me.

Also wanted to point out that the "dual intent" provision of the H1-B will be removed by this new CIR bill which will make matters worse for the people with I-485 pending as those applications can be rejected based on that.:(

Can we collectively find alternatives to move to other countries or going back home. I really don't think anything is going to happen for EB-I

if recapture enacted we shortened it for a few months.

Update. My attorney has sent a letter (interfiling process) to USCIS mentioning that my case is current now. One of my friends got 485 approved within 2 weeks after initiating interfiling process. I hope it would be the same case with me.

what king meant was that anyone could apply for 485 and get an EAD which has no work restrictions as a H1 and enjoy the same benifits someone with a GC holds..down the line(after years of wait) even if the 485 gets rejected he/she has njoyed all the privilages or work/travel by getting his/her AP/EAD...

If the current law passes , god forbid it wont. It is indeed scary to many : Becoz its primarily becoz of all backlog processing centre Labors, H1 sixth year extensions etc. I dont know how the heck designed this draft and i am sure all those senators wouldnt havebeen aware of all these H1B , GC Employment based numbers some staffer would have done this .

This is specifically for those people who have never contributed but feel like contributing but for some reason hesitate to pull the trigger. For all such people who start a monthly contribution of $50 and promise (not to me or anyone else but themselves) to keep contributing for at least the next 6 months, I am going to make a one-time contribution of $50 for every such person. I have a modest upper limit, which I will disclose after the first 10 new contributors.
So people, Sept 18th is approaching fast and IV needs your contribution. Now is the time.
The only requirement is that the member has never contributed before and starts a $50 dollar recurring contribution. For every two new contributors I will make a $100 one-time contribution. Moderators may verify my contribution.
This is great thinking and wonderful initiative. It is a lesson how we all can be creative and help others motivate. It reminds of a story. There were two teams US and Japanese. They each were divided into two groups each and made to stand facing each other. There was a imaginary line drawn and the goal of each team is to convince their team members on the other side of the line to cross over. US Team were never able to convince their team members to cross over and move to other side.
Japanese simply said to their team members on other side.. If you cross over we will also cross over.. and they won. As simple as it may sound here is a classic example shown by Milind. You rock Milind.
And you make me feel proud in being associated with you in this struggle for our cause.
I am also in the drive for funds with my indifferent colleagues. See you in DC.
